The centre will provide help with using software packages to solve problemsand offer additional expertise, if required. This help expertise will be provided primarily by trainedand paid student research assistants.* <strong>Elaborate Problems</strong> require modifications to or plugins forsoftware packages involving known algorithms. These problems will be handled by master’sstudents specialising in computer science, who will either be paid for the support they provide, or,if the problem is more scientific rather than just technical in nature, will be given the opportunityto work on it as part of their master’s thesis.* <strong>Special Problems</strong> cannot be solved using standard approaches or software. To address thesekinds of problems, the centre will provide help with finding the right experts in computer scienceor mathematics and also offer collaboration in our own fields of expertise. Projects in need ofmore comprehensive and complex algorithmic solutions that exceed initial estimates will have toapply for doctoral or post-doctoral researchers via the centre’s open calls for projects. Theseresearchers will receive support from the computational centre in the form of regular meetings inwhich algorithmic techniques will be discussed.
